OCTOBER
10, 2010
The meeting was
called to order at 12:35 p.m. with the following members present.
Joellen Strode Linda
Johnson
Ken Johnson Cindy Hamilton
Karen Butler Shannon Peterson
and Bree
Judy
Svendson and Darian
Minutes of the
previous meeting were posted on line and in the newsletter. A treasurer's report on the Fuzzy Show in May,
the WSF Show in August, and a report from the January 2010 meeting to present
were presented. Shannon made the motion to accept the reports and Jo seconded
the motion. Motion passed.
A separate report
was presented on the comparison of the Fuzzy Quad Show with the Fuzzy Double
Show showing a small increase in numbers enough to show a profit for the added
expenses. The members present decided
the Quad Show should continue. No
Official vote was taken.
President then
called for correspondence and thank you notes from Hannah Larson for the
Scholarship money, a second from Kaylee Greenwald, and a third from McKenna
Carnahan for WDGA’s support of the awards at State Fair.
Committee reports
were then given by chairs present.
Joellen presented a WDGA Window decal as a possible fundraiser. She will bring them to the annual meeting in
January to take orders. Web site needs
to be updated – Shannon volunteered to assist.
Judy reported the National Show has accepted the theme as HEARTS.
The suggestion for
a Buck Show in June was again addressed with the question of how to justify the
cost and actually pay for the show. Contact
will be made with the Buck Frenzy that is taking place in Missouri this month
and see what can be learned.
The remainder of
the meeting then turned to the possible change of the show site for the Fuzzy Show
from Cheyenne to Torrington. After a
long back and forth discussion of pros and cons, Judy made the motion to move
the Fuzzy show from Cheyenne to Torrington.
Cindy seconded the motion. Motion
Passed.
Plans will proceed
to make this change. Because of this
decision, the Fuzzy Show Committees will be changed and reports were not
necessary. New business of considering
an additional showmanship, and a youth show were also tabled while the club
focus turns to the new location.
The
WSF awards were suggested to be just the Best in Show for both seniors and
juniors, and Best Udder and allow the premiums WDGA offers to the 1st-3rd
placings as trophies. Also providing
“special awards” for the individual who traveled the most miles and entered the
most animals were suggested. A vote was not taken on this suggestion.
President Linda
appointed Joellen as the member at large – nomination chairman. A slate of officers will be presented on and
voted at the annual meeting in January.
This meeting was
set for January 22, 2011 at Scotties Pizza @ 2:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
